Michael W. Kempner

Michael Kempner is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of MWWPR. He is a nationally recognized authority on reputation management, crisis management, public affairs, business to business, consumer marketing and corporate social responsibility, and has counseled some of the world’s most prominent executives, organizations and companies. Michael has been honored with several of the industry’s highest accolades, including PRWeek’s PR Professional of the Year.
An active member of his community, Michael is a Founding Board Member of ConnectOne Bank, and a board member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, Goodwill Industries International, and the Coalition for the Homeless.
Bret works across all practice groups and geographies to enhance best practices and client service. He has created a variety of marketing communications efforts to help distinguish consumer brands in multiple industries and categories, including online, sports, health and packaged goods. As a co-founding member of Catalyst, he spearheaded the agency’s dynamic growth with global brands and received significant industry recognition for the agency’s work to grow client brands to number one in their categories.

Will oversees the agency’s finance operations including human resources, legal and information technology. He has more than 20+ years management experience leading global agencies in a CFO capacity and keeping businesses in line with global budget and financial reporting.

Gina Ormand Cherwin serves as a core member of the agency’s executive and operations teams. She leads MWWPR’s human resources organization, overseeing talent recruitment, development and retention, performance management, organizational development, employee engagement initiatives and company culture.
Chairman of Reputation and Chief Strategy Officer
Carreen leads our Corporate Reputation Management practice, covering all aspects of corporate reputation including executive positioning, employee engagement, CSR and citizenship, crisis and issues management and labor relations. Beginning her career with MWWPR 26 years ago, Carreen has been responsible for some of the agency’s most recognized work. She is a noted blogger, author and speaker on topics related to reputation, and appears regularly in the national news media including The Wall Street Journal, CNN and the Washington Post.

Parker brings a wealth of digital marketing and communications knowledge to MWW—having worked agency side, in house, at startups, and as an editor. Parker specializes in digital brand marketing through social media, influencer, content strategy and development, website design and development, SEO & SEM, and eCommerce—and he has leveraged this experience across numerous Consumer, Corporate, and Healthcare companies.

Amy is a versatile, forward-thinking, and influential leader with a history of success in providing and communicating a clear vision, setting strategic direction, and serving as a catalyst for positive change to further organizations’ missions, values, and goals.

Bill has more than 35 years of experience conducting public affairs, issues management and government relations campaigns for clients in a wide range of industries, with 26 years at MWWPR. He specializes in campaigns that focus on impacting public policy; building and mobilizing third party advocates at the state and federal level, and directing related social and traditional media relations programs.

A highly creative business strategist, John brings a record of accomplishment from agency and corporate settings. As CMO of a multi-national company, John transformed a startup venture into a recognized global brand. He has advised companies and senior executives on global marketing initiatives ranging from new product launches and market expansion to consumer education programs. During John’s 12 year tenure with the agency he has won numerous awards for his work in CPG, health and wellness, and consumer technology.

Tara leads the New York Consumer Practice. With more than two decades of consumer, technology, health and food and beverage experience she serves as a catalyst for creativity and integrated brand strategy. Tara oversees many of the agency’s consumer and technology lifestyle brands and has played a significant role developing brand strategy in her 8 years with the agency.

Patrick leads MWW’s UK office based in Soho, London. He has extensive experience running domestic and international corporate, consumer, B2B and trade campaigns for some of the world’s largest brands across a variety of sectors. In addition to his expertise in technology, media and telecommunications, Patrick has managed domestic and pan-EMEA PR, crisis communications and reputation management campaigns for major corporate organizations.

Rich Tauberman is a senior member of the firm’s Corporate Communications and Issues Management practice. During his 20-year tenure with the agency he has helped organizations across industries and geographies prepare for and respond to a wide variety of incidents that could negatively impact their business, reputation and bottom line. Karen manages the agency’s national Technology practice and serves as the General Manager of MWWPR San Francisco overseeing all operations for the office. Her expertise includes proprietary and secondary research, measurement and evaluation, and strategic planning.

Stephen leads MWWPR’s Multi-Cultural & LGBT Practice with a client roster featuring Fortune 500 companies, LGBT owned businesses, LGBT non-profits and national public figures and influencers. He currently leads the national discussion on LGBT issues and has served as the National Entertainment Media Director at GLAAD and Co-President of Outfest.

An experienced PR Professional with close to 20 years in the industry, Rebecca has an extensive track record of advising clients at a senior level on PR strategy, messaging and planning with a proven ability to deliver high level media relations and thought leadership campaigns. Her sector expertise includes media, gaming, technology, online and professional services.

Cecilia Coakley is responsible for developing and implementing executive visibility and media relations programs for financial and professional services and business-to-business clients. During her 9-year tenure, Cecilia has developed an expertise in corporate branding and thought leadership programs, having provided strategic counsel to a variety of financial services, consulting and technology clients.

Dawn leads the agency’s Business Communications practice. She brings more than 9 years of experience developing corporate communications campaigns for clients across professional and financial services, business-to-business, and higher education sectors. She specializes in corporate branding, positioning and thought leadership programs built upon a strong foundation in investor relations, social media and crises communications.
Chief of Staff, Office of the CEO
Melissa has been working in communications for more than 17 years, specializing in consumer lifestyle, goods and services. Her most recent position was at Peppercomm, where she devised integrated campaign strategy, brand experiences and influencer engagement for clients like Whirlpool, The Capital Grille, TGI Fridays, MINI, TJMaxx and Marshalls, among others.
A Fordham University graduate, Melissa was responsible for overall account leadership including leading brand positioning, product launches, thought leadership initiatives, influencer events, CSR, tradeshow/sponsorship activation, social media and crisis communications.
Melissa lives in Westchester with her husband, twin daughters and their rescues – a Boxer/Pit named Otis, a Pitbull named Gabby, and a tabby cat named Jynx. They are surrounded by a large (and loud) Italian family that enjoys cooking and minding each other’s business.

J. Mark Riggs is a Senior Vice President in Charge of Agency Marketing and New Business. Prior to joining MWW, Mark ran an independent consultancy called Human Truth IMC. Prior to Human Truth, Mark spent 20 years in the agency world having worked for IPG’s Mullen Lowe, an Ad Age A-List Agency, and Taylor, the Holmes Report’s Consumer Agency of the Decade, and French/West/Vaughan, the Southeast’s largest independent agency.
Mark has spent a career learning the art of integrated communication developing and executing award-winning consumer and business-to-business programs for brands and companies like Allstate, R.J. Reynolds, Honda, Ford, Kimberly-Clark, Polaris, Coke, Diageo, Wachovia and SunTrust Banks, the U.S. Navy, the Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN.
Mark has led teams that have activated at the Super Bowl, the Winter and Summer Olympics, Daytona 500, the NCAA Final Four, as well as the BCS and National College Football Championship Playoffs and more than 20 college bowl games. He began career as a journalist learning resourcefulness and the value of filling a window of opportunity with concise communication.
Mark, who started his marketing career in the Olympic Movement learning the intricacies of planning and an attention to detail in the development of events as a lifestyle communication tool, has a reputation as a business-builder and a strategic counselor. With experience in leading client services, insights and planning functions, as well as developing talent. A creative thinker and problem-solver, Mark believes that great thinking can “come from anywhere,” it’s the ability to harness it and leverage it for clients that makes the intellectual property of the agency valuable and an integral part of the marketing mix.
Mark is a member of the Business Journal’s 40-Under-40 Business Leadership Hall of Fame and won the first ever PR Week campaign award for a North Carolina-based agency. He has walked the plains of Kenya’s Masai Mara, the corridors of the Appalachian Trail, and found Tommy Lasorda sitting in his backseat.
