The best career advice I ever got from a CEO

By | August 5, 2013

One of the greatest things about working in corporate communications is the ability to learn from the leadership styles of many CEOs at a wide range of companies and across many industries. The best advice I ever got?  Please, take your vacation.

That’s right. A client (A CEO of a major company, actually) advocating for vacation. For everyone, including the CEO.

I am not sure who said summer is slow at the office.  Although that notion isn’t intentionally deceptive, I have never found it to be true…and especially not this summer.  (Hence the reason I’ve taken a “vacation” from this blog).

So I am going to take that advice from a very wise leader, and dig my toes into the sand this week. In the meantime, check out Deloitte Consulting CEO Jim Moffat’s views on the importance of vacation…and maybe you can steal a few days away yourself. You may come back with some fresh perspective.
